About SharpDeck.NET

The Beginning
SharpDeck.NET originally started as a dream of starting my own software company (SharpDeck Software). Current this dream is on hold and maybe changing. I'm not sure if I will ever really want to operate my own company.

Currently
Being that I'm not starting a software company then what is SharpDeck.NET all about? Well I am just another geek interested in software and some hardware. I love to program. No really, I live to program. I couldn't image a day that I couldn't think or actually code something. I am an C# fanatic and I consider C# the best development language ever! Don’t get me wrong though. C# is not the best language for every situation but it is my favorite. What other language will allow you to develop for desktop (PC), mobile (phone/PDA), embedded (CE/.NET Micro Framework), web, and gaming (Zune and Xbox) applications all in one common language? Nothing. What other development tools are as well documented and mature as Visual Studios? Nothing. I want to spend my time on my projects, not trying to figure out another language or toolset.

I've been called a Microsoft fan boy, .NET zealot and many other names. I will admit that I am a HUGE fan of Microsoft products and I believe there is nothing better in the industry. I keep up with all the changes in the .NET Framework, .NET Micro Framework, ASP.NET, Visual Studio, Windows CE and many other technologies. My favorite podcast is .NET Rocks by Carl Franklin and Richard Campbell.

I want to share my knowledge and information with the world. I hope that someone out there will find something here useful and maybe save them a minute or two. I also want to better my communication skills. I've always heard the best way to see if you really know something is to try and teach someone else. Well this is my outlet to try and teach others things I'm learning myself.

Bobby the programmer
profile I started my career interested in electronics. I learned basic electronics at B.J. Skelton career center and worked five years in the hardware repair industry. Having an interest in software programming, I left the electronic repair industry to become a software tester. While trying to find problems in others software, I found a passion that still burns today. I realized that I would rather be the one writing the software instead of testing it. I taught myself how to program in a language called VB6. I soon out grew the power of that language and it required me to learn other more powerful languages. Currently my favorite language is C#.

Aprils Profile I started my career interested in customer service in an office environment. I took a business course at B.J. Skelton Career Center, and started out in an office as a Customer Service Rep. While being a CSR, I developed a desire to become an Office Manager. Being a goal oriented person, I set my sites on manager and achieved my goal after six years of working at the company I am currently with.
